Two weeks ago, DVSN dropped their highly anticipated third album, "A Muse In Her Feelings". It's been three years since DVSN released "Morning After", a sultry collection of R&B joints that'll make you want to light a candle, light a spliff, run a bath, and call your ex real quick. AMIHF takes a more uptempo route, while still giving us their trademark Toronto soul, with nods to the Baltimore dance scene/NOLA bounce on "Keep It Going" and a seasoned taste of dancehall with heavy hitter features from Buju Banton and Popcaan ("Dangerous City" & "So What").

DVSN goes one step further with their tracklist to break it down into four of our Muse's moods and their partner tracks:

  1. In Her Feelings: No Good, Friends, Still Pray For You, Courtside, Miss Me

  2. Get Over It: No Cryin, Dangerous City, So What, Outlandish

  3. 3AM Afterhours: Keep It Going, Flawless, Greedy, Between Us, A Muse

  4. and Falling In Love..Again: For Us, Again

No doubt Nineteen85's production never ceases to impress. He gives us a few familiar samples like PTAF's "Boss Ass Bitch," 702's "Get it Together" on "Flawless," Usher's "Nice & Slow" on "Between Us," and Lonnie Liston Smith's "A Garden of Peace" on "Muse." But my favorite part of the album begins at "Dangerous City" straight through to "Flawless," the transitions between these tracks is IMPECCABLE! It flows smooth, like a live DJ set would, even accompanied with adlibs from our resident "DJ."

This was an album that grew on me over time, it was a slight change of pace from their previous projects, while still staying true to the signature sound we all love. For those of you that think R&B is "dead," DVSN proves that it's still very much alive, it just has a new sound.

Peep below for my track-by-track rundown!
